The Mothman 3D model was created using the AI “image to 3D” generator here: https://www.tripo3d.ai

This is the original image I used to make the 3D model: https://www.buildabear.com/dw/image/v2/BBNG_PRD/on/demandware.static/-/Sites-buildabear-master/default/dw4c956a15/00230802232560Alt1~x20330120.jpg

Surely digital rot will get at that, so also here.

Pretty amazing from just one reference photo.  Notable is that the algorithms created perfectly separated wings and arms from just that photo.  The mesh topology has a really nice quad flow, too.  I didn’t need to clean anything up with either the textures or geometry (.fbx).  I could probably rig and skin it fairly quickly, knock on wood.  Hm.  It’s almost like this little guy existed already in a pre-made model library.  Impressive.

Yet, in a fraction of a blink of an eye something appears that would have taken hours, further back, days.  “Thousands and thousands of layoffs” always pops into my head when I f with generative AI.  I dunno.
