Still don’t have the source files but from the same dvd this gif is definitely from 1/1997.  Made while sitting at the nearly mythical $25,000 SGI Octane workstation using some intimidating and awkward IRIX gif animation software during the first day of Intro to Computer Animation in the Art and Technology MFA program at The School of the Art Institute Of Chicago.

I remember installing Photoshop on the college lab computers and this animation would have been done shortly after that.  The original working .psd is long gone.  This .gif is 176 frames so I must’ve used Photoshop’s then revolutionary, shiny-new, mind-blowingly cool v3 feature: Layers.

Dates this animation probably to 1995, it’s also my first computer animation.

The actual file has a Modified Date of 11/03/1997 but I think that only correlates to when I burned it.  Yes, I pulled this off a 24 year old dvd archive.

Was looking for what I think was the first .gif animation I made, sometime in the early/mid 1990’s.  Found this instead.  I’ll keep looking, in the meantime here’s a lovely 3ds Max 7 WIP screenshot from just about 15 years ago.  Good Lord.  Like yesterday.
